ADC Sets Up Interim Leadership Team in Adamawa

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has formed a caretaker committee to oversee the party’s activities until new leaders are elected.

The committee was inaugurated over the weekend under the supervision of the North East Zonal Vice Chairman of the ADC, David Lawal Babachir.

He explained that the decision was reached after consultations among key stakeholders who agreed that the interim structure was necessary to stabilize the party and prepare it ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Babachir, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said the temporary leadership was approved by the party’s National Working Committee in line with constitutional procedures. He made it clear that the ADC would not tolerate acts of indiscipline or disregard for party rules.

He also conveyed the message of the National Chairman, Senator David Mark, who restated the party’s commitment to internal democracy and fairness, warning that any member working against the party’s principles would face appropriate action.In his address, the newly appointed interim chairman, Barrister Sadiq Dasin, expressed gratitude to party leaders for the trust placed in his team.

Dasin, a former Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, promised to promote unity within the ADC and ensure active participation of women and youths in decision-making.

He assured members that upcoming party congresses in the state would be transparent and credible, adding that at least 60 percent of elective positions would be allocated to women and youths to strengthen inclusiveness and representation.

Dasin urged members to work together in harmony, describing the new leadership arrangement as a necessary step toward repositioning the ADC for better performance in future elections.
