The Coalition of Northeast Youth Group Leaders has called on President Bola Tinubu to review the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) following his recent removal of Nigeria’s Service Chiefs.

The group praised the President for what it described as a bold step toward improving discipline and accountability in the armed forces. However, it noted that the reforms would remain incomplete without a proper evaluation of the NSA’s office.

In a statement signed by the coalition’s chairman, Comrade Mohammed Grema Adamu, the youths said real reform should go beyond changing military heads to include auditing all agencies connected to national security. They urged the President to review the performance, structure, and transparency level of the NSA to rebuild public confidence and enhance coordination within the security sector.

The group also said national security offices must undergo regular reviews to maintain professionalism and loyalty to the country. It further called for a detailed audit of recent security operations managed under the NSA, stressing that reforms must follow due process and focus on national interest.
The coalition stated that President Tinubu’s decision to reshuffle the military was a reflection of the decisive leadership Nigerians expect. It advised the government to work closely with civil society organisations in the Northeast to make sure citizens’ views are part of the security reform process.
It warned that if the government fails to respond or engage the group within seven days, it would begin peaceful demonstrations to demand accountability and transparency in the country’s security management.
