AIYEDATIWA’S THREAT AGAINST MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY INFANTILE

The Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the forthcoming November 16 governorship election in Ondo state, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, has condemned threats by the State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa to pull down the Ondo State House of Assembly Complex if the Assembly refused to approve the Supplementary Budget, which was rejected last week.

Hon. Agboola Ajayi sad that the latest development has signalled a serious crisis between the Executive and the Legislative arms of government in the state.

In a statement on Wednesday, by his Special Assistant on Media, Aare Abiodun Oluwarotimi, the PDP candidate described the threat as petty, adding that the Governor does not have absolute powers to govern as he pleased, encouraging members of the House Assembly to take their constitutional powers serious and act in the best interest of the State.

Agboola further commended the honorable members for noting the fact that as at October, this year’s budget was only 20 percent implemented, this in itself is a confirmation of Aiyedatiwa’s ineptitude.

Hon. Agboola Ajayi urged Governor Ayedatiwa to allow the state lawmakers to interact with his Finance Commissioner being a public servant if truly he has nothing to hide.

Hon. Agboola Ajayi called on the members of the State House of Assembly to remember the pledge they made to the people of Ondo state, and do what is right in the face of the law.

He saluted their courage and advised them not to feel threatened as no one has the power to remove them from the office.

Recall that Governor Ayedatiwa on Monday invited some selected Honourable Members of the State House of Assembly to a meeting where he angrily expressed his displeasure over the rejection of his Supplementary Budget by the lawmakers.

At the meeting, the Governor accused the lawmakers of harassing his Finance Commissioner, Mrs Omowumi Isaac by asking her to report before the Honourable members before they can pass the supplementary budget.

The Governor was quoted by sources to have threatened to use the Fubara style in Rivers state on the lawmakers by pulling down the Assembly Complex and as well order for the suspension of members who failed to comply with his order.
