Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, successfully stopped a terrorist attack in Taraba State on October 1, 2025.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the soldiers moved to Tor-Ikyeghgba village, where reports indicated that armed bandits were gathering.Upon reaching the area, the troops encountered the suspects along the powerline axis and engaged them, resulting in the deaths of two individuals identified as suspected terrorists.
The operation also led to the recovery of weapons and equipment, including a locally made pistol, two dane guns, three rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, a Baofeng radio, and a motorcycle.
The Nigerian Army affirmed its continued commitment to protecting residents of Taraba and called on the public to support ongoing security operations by providing accurate information.
Authorities said the troops involved were commended for their quick response, discipline, and effective handling of the situation, and residents were assured that security forces remain vigilant against criminal threats.
