Dismissed DSS Officer Poses as Agent to Defraud Nigerians — Agency Warns Public

The Department of State Services has cautioned Nigerians against dealing with a former officer, Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who has allegedly been posing as a staff member of the agency to deceive and defraud unsuspecting citizens.

The warning, issued on Sunday through the DSS’s verified X account, stated that Godwin, who was previously dismissed from the Service, has been involved in fraudulent activities using the agency’s name to extort people.

The DSS urged the public to avoid any interaction with him and to channel all official enquiries or reports through the agency’s approved communication lines.

This latest alert follows a similar case just four days ago, when the DSS warned Nigerians about another dismissed officer, Barry Donald, accused of impersonating the agency for illegal purposes.

The Department of State Services, established in 1986, serves as Nigeria’s main domestic intelligence agency, responsible for internal security and counterintelligence operations across the country.
