The Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, SAN, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, for their support of legal education in Nigeria.
He made the remarks during his speech at the official flag-off ceremony for the construction of male and female hostels at the Nigerian Law School, Bwari campus, Abuja.
During the event, Chiroma recalled that Wike had promised in December 2024 to build 300-bed capacity hostels for both male and female students, and the ceremony marked the fulfillment of that promise. He stated that the hostels would help ease the school’s accommodation challenges and assist the institution in achieving its training goals.
The DG also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for approving the project and to the Federal Ministry of Justice, led by Attorney General Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, for its continuous backing. He acknowledged the support of the Solicitor-General of the Federation, Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba, for her contributions to the school’s progress.
Chiroma described Wike as a steadfast supporter of legal education, citing his past interventions, including the development of the Graham Douglas Campus in Port Harcourt, the Yenagoa campus, and the donation of utility vehicles and staff quarters.He noted that the FCT Minister’s consistent investment in legal infrastructure demonstrates his lasting commitment to the justice sector.
The event drew several dignitaries, staff, and students, who gathered to witness the commencement of the long-awaited hostel project.
