President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Bernard Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and has forwarded his name to the Senate for screening and approval.
The appointment fills the vacancy created after Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, became the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.
According to the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the nomination was announced on Tuesday following Tinubu’s decision to fill two vacant ministerial positions after a private meeting with his aides on Monday evening.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro has over 20 years of experience in clinical medicine, pharmaceutical management, and strategic leadership across the United Kingdom and Nigeria. He holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA in IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.
He is also an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with experience in the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK, where he worked in hospitals, urgent care centres, and general practice.
Beyond his professional career, Doro has been involved in youth mentorship and community development both in Nigeria and abroad.
Once confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Doro will be sworn in as part of President Tinubu’s cabinet during a Federal Executive Council meeting.
