The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Matilda Umiah Ngbaronye, who was the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Festac Division.
She passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Mayriamville Medical Centre in Bode Thomas, Surulere, after undergoing surgery.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Command described her death as a great loss to the Force, noting that she was an officer known for her professionalism, dedication, and integrity.
The late officer was celebrated for her calm and humane approach to policing, which helped strengthen trust between the police and residents of the areas she served.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, expressed deep sadness over her passing, saying the news came as a painful shock to everyone in the Command.
He described her as a disciplined, diligent, and friendly officer whose work ethic and service left a lasting impression on colleagues and the public alike.Jimoh also conveyed his condolences to the deceased officer’s family, especially her mother, husband, and elder brother, who is a priest.
He said the Command would continue to support the family during their period of mourning.The Command added that details regarding her burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
