Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), collapsed inside Kuje Prison on Friday and was rushed to the prison’s medical centre for treatment.
The incident occurred while Ejimakor was in detention following his arrest during a protest demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu in Abuja.
He was among 13 persons, including Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, who were arrested by police on Monday and later arraigned before the Kuje Magistrate Court.
One of Kanu’s other lawyers, Maxwell Opara, confirmed the incident to Daily Post on Saturday, stating that Ejimakor was receiving medical attention at the Kuje Medical Centre when he visited.
The lawyer’s collapse came a day after Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id of the Kuje Court declined to sign the bail bond for his release, keeping him and others in custody.
Ejimakor, who has been a key legal representative for the detained IPOB leader, remains under medical observation at the correctional facility’s health centre as of the latest update.
