The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the release of Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo, the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, who had been held by gunmen for over a week. Bagudo was abducted on October 31, 2025, in Bagudo Local Government Area and regained his freedom on Saturday, November 8, around 8:00 pm.
After his release, Bagudo received medical attention and was reunited with his family. The police described the operation as successful due to the combined efforts of security personnel and support from residents who provided critical information. The state police assured that they will continue ongoing operations against banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.
The abduction had caused widespread concern in Kebbi State, but the safe return of Bagudo has relieved his family, colleagues, and constituents. Residents were advised to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to local authorities to prevent future incidents.
