Senate President Godswill Akpabio is facing growing calls to confirm the appointment of Abdullahi Garba Ramat as Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). The call came from the South-South Guardian Forum (SSGF), which urged the Senate leadership to complete the confirmation process without further delay.
The group raised concerns that the continued delay in approving Ramat’s appointment has created doubts and is affecting progress in the power sector. They explained that Ramat had already been screened and cleared by the Senate Committee on Power, yet has not been officially confirmed for the position.
