Soludo Denies Rumour of Obiano’s Death
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State on Friday reacted to a rumour spreading on social media that former governor Willie Obiano had died. The claim, which circulated widely online, alleged that Obiano passed away in a hospital in London.
Soludo, who spoke through his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, said the rumour was false. He explained that he had reached Obiano personally and confirmed that the former governor was alive and doing well. He described the death report as a wicked act carried out by those who wanted to mislead the public.
The governor urged media platforms and online publishers to confirm information through trusted channels before sharing it. He warned that the spread of unverified stories creates confusion and weakens public confidence. He asked residents of Anambra and Nigerians to ignore the false report and assured them that Obiano was in good health.
Soludo also sent his good wishes to Obiano, praying for strength and long life for him.
Earlier, C-Don Adinuba, who served as Commissioner for Information under Obiano, also dismissed the rumour. He explained that Obiano currently lives in Houston in the United States, not London, and that he had not been admitted in any hospital. He described the story as fake and urged the public to disregard it.
Obiano served as governor of Anambra State from 2014 to 2022 before handing over to Soludo.
