More than 8,000 civil servants under the Federal Capital Territory Administration are set to sit for their promotion examinations this week in Abuja. The five-day exercise will take place at the National Open University Study Centre along Kubwa Road and will run from Tuesday to Saturday.
The Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, said the workers involved come from about 165 different job groups across the service. He explained that the early conduct of the exams was made possible after the FCT Minister approved the request to conclude the delayed 2024 promotion exercise for staff of both the FCTA and the Federal Capital Development Authority.
The exams will be conducted through a Computer-Based Test system. This is part of the effort to strengthen the digital method now used for promotion tests in the FCT. The digital approach was approved earlier and has already been used in previous exercises.
Earlier in August 2025, 49 directors were promoted after passing a similar CBT process. The commission said the method has helped make the process more orderly and faster, and the current exercise will follow the same pattern to ensure fairness for all participants.
