The Federal Capital Territory Administration has denied reports claiming that all government schools in Abuja were ordered to close by November 28, 2025. The administration said no decision like that was made at any level and described the report as false.
The Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, made this known in an official notice. He also announced that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, ordered the immediate suspension of the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr Danlami Hayyo, over the incident.
In addition, the Acting Head of Service, Mrs Nancy Sabanti Nathan, was directed to take proper disciplinary action against the Director of School Services, Mrs Aishatu Sani Alhassan, according to civil service rules.
The FCTA advised parents, students, and school authorities to ignore the rumour and continue to follow the approved academic calendar, which remains unchanged.
The administration also assured residents, especially students, that security across the FCT is being strengthened. It added that the minister has ordered the restart of Operation Sweep and other security measures to keep the territory safe.
