The Edo State Government on Thursday announced Dr Patrick Ebojele as the new Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo. The appointment was made public through a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.
Ebojele, who was a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi before this role, will take over from Fred Itua. The government described Ebojele as a journalist and public administrator with long experience in media and public affairs. He previously worked with several Nigerian media organisations, including Channels Television, New Nigerian Newspaper, Champion Newspaper and Comet Newspapers, where he handled reporting duties in the Edo and Delta axis.
The government explained that the appointment is part of efforts to improve communication between the administration and residents of the state. It stated that it wants clearer and more direct engagement with the public on government plans and activities.
Itua, who is leaving the post, will remain in service and wait for his next assignment. The government thanked him for his work and contributions while he held the position.
Ebojele is expected to begin his new duties immediately, serving as the main link between the governor and the media.
