Wike Inspects Ongoing Interchange Bridge and Road Project in Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday visited the construction site of the Interchange Bridge and road network linking Maitama, Gishiri and Jahi with Gwarinpa to check the progress of work.

The project, known as the full development of Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way), runs from Ring Road II to Ring Road III. It includes two interchange bridges at the N16/RRII and N16/RRIII junctions. The road is part of a wider plan to improve movement across major districts of the FCT.

The stretch of the road from Ring Road I to Arterial Road N20 (Solomon Lar Way) in Katampe District has already been completed and was opened by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the second anniversary of his administration.

Another section, from N20 to Ring Road II, is progressing under the Jahi District Infrastructure Project. The remaining part, from Ring Road III to Arterial Road N40, is yet to be developed. When finished, it will connect to the route that leads to the Renewed Hope Estate in Karsana District.

Arterial Road N16 passes through the Gwarinpa Housing Estate, and its completion will create easier access to areas within Bunkoro and Wupa Districts. It will also serve Sector Center E, a fast-growing zone that brings together four districts — Gwarimpa II (C03), Kafe (C05), Wupa (C15) and Bunkoro (C18) — which form part of Phase III of the Federal Capital City.
