Burkina Faso stopped a Nigerian Air Force C130 aircraft on Monday, December 8, 2025, after it entered the country’s airspace without permission. The incident happened in Bobo Dioulasso, where the plane had to land due to an in-flight problem.
The aircraft had 11 military personnel on board, made up of two crew members and nine passengers. The information was shared by the Confederation of Sahel States through Burkina Faso’s state news agency.
After checks, Burkinabe authorities found that the plane did not have approval to fly over Burkina Faso. Because of this, the regional body in charge of the Sahel countries said the act went against the control and authority of its member nations. It also stated that its air and defence units were placed on high alert and had the order to act against any aircraft entering the area without approval.
As of the time of this report, neither the Nigerian Air Force nor the Federal Government had released a statement on the matter.
