Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has appointed Emmanuel Meribole as the acting Secretary to the State Government. The decision was announced on Friday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha.
The change in office comes shortly after the former SSG, Professor Kenneth Kalu, went on a Leave of Absence. According to the announcement, Meribole, who currently serves as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects, will begin his new role on January 1, 2026.
The statement explained that the handover process will begin on Monday, December 15, 2025. During this period, Professor Kalu and Dr. Meribole will work together to keep government activities running smoothly and ensure ongoing projects and policies continue without disruption.
Meribole is a medical doctor and a retired Permanent Secretary from the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
