The race for the 2026 governorship elections in Osun and Ekiti states is gathering pace as the APC, PDP and ADC exchange words over their chances at the polls. The Independent National Electoral Commission has already announced the election dates, putting political activities in motion across both states.
The PDP leadership says the party is confident of victory in the two states, describing Osun and Ekiti as long-time bases of support. Party officials insist residents are unhappy with the current APC leadership and are ready to return the PDP to power if the elections are conducted properly. They argue that voters have experienced governance under both parties and now prefer the PDP option.
The ADC has also declared readiness to compete strongly in the two states. Party leaders say the ADC has built a solid structure in Osun, aided by the influence of its national leadership, and believes this strength will reflect in Ekiti as well. According to the party, public frustration with current policies and governance choices has opened space for alternative political forces.
On its part, the APC has rejected claims by both opposition parties. The ruling party maintains that its performance at the national level, under President Bola Tinubu, will work in its favour. APC officials say the party remains popular in Ekiti and is well positioned to win Osun, dismissing suggestions that voters are turning away from the party.
As campaigns slowly take shape, all three parties are projecting confidence while awaiting the start of full election activities in the two states.
