Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has approved a new set of appointments to the state executive council and various key agencies, naming commissioners, board chairmen, managing directors, and executive secretaries. The appointments were announced on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.
Among the new commissioners-designate are Barrister Osinachi Nnajieze and Dr. C.O.C. Egumgbe, whose names have been sent to the Enugu State House of Assembly for confirmation. The governor also approved senior appointments across strategic state agencies. Kenechukwu Nnamani was named Managing Director of the Enugu State Investment Development Authority, while James Chukwuemeka Mbah was appointed Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board.
Other notable appointments include Dr. Eric Oluedo as Executive Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pensions Board, Mrs. Sylvia Onwubuemeli as Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Library Board, and Monday Diamond Ani as State Coordinator of the Community and Social Development Agency. The governor also reconstituted the Governing Board of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board, appointing members representing the three senatorial districts, teachers, and women groups.
Several strategic agencies received new leadership, including Barrister Nwabueze Ugwu as Chairman of the Governing Council of the Enugu State College of Education Technical, Chief Nwabueze Nnamani as Board Chairman of the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation, and Richard Onaga and Hon. Bob Itanyi as Managing Directors of the Enugu State Waste Management Agency and Enugu State Transport Company, respectively. Other boards such as Enugu Air, the New Enugu Smart City Development Authority, the Road Maintenance and Development Agency, and the Roads Fund also received new chairpersons and executive secretaries.
Dr. John Egbo and Hon. Prince Emeka Mamah were appointed Managing Directors of the Enugu East and Enugu North Transport Terminals, while Rev. Chimaobi Aninwene joined the Enugu State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.
All appointments, except those requiring legislative confirmation, take immediate effect. The governor called on the appointees to use their expertise to advance the administration’s goals for effective governance and sustainable development in Enugu State.
