SGF Akume Weds Queen Zaynab, Ex-Wife of Ooni of Ife

Nigeria’s Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has taken a new wife, Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh. The development was made known on Friday through a Facebook post by Abraham Double-d Dajoh, who spoke on behalf of the Dajoh family.
According to the announcement, the family expressed joy as they welcomed Queen Zaynab into the Dajoh household. They also thanked Akume’s supporters for standing by him and asked them to continue their support as he begins this new phase of his life. The family extended goodwill messages for Christmas and the New Year.
The post also described Queen Zaynab’s entry into Benue State, known as the Food Basket of the Nation, Mbakor, regarded as the seat of leadership of the Tiv people, and the Dajoh family, where her husband hails from.
Queen Zaynab was previously married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. That marriage was conducted in 2016, with traditional rites held in Benin City and a reception at the palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State. The union later ended in 2017.
Akume’s marriage comes at a time when Nigeria is facing serious security concerns across several regions, with continued attacks by terrorists and bandits. In response to the wider security situation, the United States recently carried out airstrikes on suspected terrorist locations in parts of northern Nigeria, an action that has drawn national attention.
Despite the tense national atmosphere, the SGF’s marriage has attracted public interest, especially due to the background of his new wife and his position in the federal government.
