Ambassador Mohammed Bomoi, a well-known figure in the All Progressives Congress, has withdrawn his membership from the ruling party, citing deep dissatisfaction with its national leadership and the treatment of the North-East region. Bomoi made his decision public through a statement issued on December 25, 2025, where he confirmed that he had also stepped away from the Tinubu/Shettima political movement.
Bomoi previously served as Secretary of the APC Special Purpose Committee for the North-East Zone and was involved in mobilisation efforts for the party across states such as Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba and Yobe. He said his exit followed what he described as a lack of recognition and involvement of loyal party members who worked actively to strengthen the APC in the region.
According to him, the party’s national leadership showed little interest in the affairs of the North-East, creating a sense of neglect among members. He explained that this situation weakened his trust in the party and in the leaders he had supported politically.
Bomoi also alleged that recent actions under the current administration suggested that the North was being treated unfairly, adding that the relationship between the region and the central government had been damaged. As a result, he stated that he had no reason to remain in his former position or continue his association with the APC at the national level.
His resignation adds to ongoing internal disagreements within the ruling party, especially among members from different regions who have raised concerns about inclusion and internal balance.
