NNPP Names Abiya Acting Chairman in Kano

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has appointed Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya as the Acting State Chairman in Kano State following the removal of the former chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa. The decision was taken after party leaders at the ward and local government levels rejected Dungurawa and moved to replace him.
The change in leadership followed a resolution from the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Executive Committee, which recommended the sack and expulsion of Dungurawa. This resolution originated from the Gargari Ward Executive Committee, which accused him of actions said to be against the interest of the party. The ward executives adopted the decision during their second meeting held weeks after the general election and forwarded it to the state leadership.
An emergency meeting of the NNPP State Executive Committee was later held at the party secretariat in Kano, where members reviewed the report and approved the appointment of Abiya as acting chairman. The announcement was made by the party’s Assistant Legal Adviser, Yusuf Mukhtar, who stated that the process followed the party’s constitution.
Party officials explained that the leadership change was aimed at restoring order within the party, improving unity among members, and preparing the NNPP for future political activities in the state.
Reacting to his appointment, Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya assured party members that fairness would guide his leadership. He also pledged loyalty to the party’s national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and to Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, while promising to work towards strengthening the party across the state.
