Asari Dokubo Backs Tinubu’s 2027 Bid

Dokubo said his decision was driven by Tinubu’s support for him during a difficult period in his life. He explained that Tinubu stood by him long before he became a traditional ruler and that it was now his responsibility to return that support. He stated that he would commit his influence and resources to ensure the president’s success in the next election.
The traditional ruler expressed appreciation to Wike for the visit and described him as a long-time associate. He recalled his early relationship with Tinubu and noted that the president’s backing played a role in shaping his journey to his current position.
Wike, in his remarks, said the visit was part of efforts to appreciate the people of the area for their continued support. He explained that he also came to explain the reasons behind supporting Tinubu’s second-term ambition in 2027. The minister added that the visit was an opportunity to extend New Year greetings to the community.
Wike acknowledged that traditional rulers are expected to remain neutral in politics but noted that his personal relationship with Dokubo made the visit necessary. He thanked the monarch for the warm reception and expressed goodwill to the people of the kingdom.
