The All Progressives Congress has lifted the suspension placed on the Executive Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, Dahiru Ambursa, restoring his full membership of the party in Kebbi State. The decision was taken on January 14, 2026, as part of steps by the party to resolve internal disagreements and improve unity ahead of future political activities.
The development was communicated in a letter issued by the APC Kebbi Central Zonal Office in Birnin Kebbi. The letter explained that Ambursa’s suspension, which took effect on December 29, 2025, was reviewed after discussions with party leaders and the submission of reports by stakeholders involved in the matter.
The party stated that the review followed internal consultations and was guided by provisions of the APC constitution, which allow for reconsideration of disciplinary actions. The reversal was aimed at restoring calm within the party, especially at the local government level, where tensions had grown in recent weeks.
Ambursa was initially suspended over allegations linked to abuse of office and actions believed to affect party unity and public image. The decision at the time was based on relevant sections of the party’s constitution and came amid disagreements within the Kebbi APC, particularly among local government officials and party structures.
Following the review, the party concluded that reconciliation was necessary to prevent prolonged divisions that could weaken its position going forward. Party leaders believe that settling internal disputes early will help maintain stability as the next election period approaches.
With the suspension lifted, the APC has confirmed Ambursa’s status as a full member and encouraged him to continue supporting the party’s activities and structures across Kebbi State. Ambursa, in response, welcomed the decision and expressed readiness to work with party members to promote unity within Birnin Kebbi Local Government and the state at large.
