The announcement was made in Osogbo by Munirudeen Raji, the Special Adviser on Politics to Governor Adeleke, during a current affairs programme. He explained that the political structure loyal to the Osun governor has resolved to support Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Raji admitted that the Adeleke camp worked against Tinubu during the 2023 presidential race but said the situation has changed. According to him, the group now believes Tinubu will secure victory in 2027 with their backing. He added that future campaign materials for Governor Adeleke would also reflect support for the president to show voters their joint political direction.
He stated that the plan is for voters to support Adeleke in the Osun governorship election while also voting for Tinubu at the presidential level. He expressed confidence that Tinubu would win the next presidential election.
Raji also clarified the political status of Governor Adeleke, saying the governor and his appointees belong to the Accord Party, while elected lawmakers in the state remain members of the Peoples Democratic Party. He dismissed claims of division within the Accord Party in Osun, describing them as false and driven by opposition forces, adding that the electoral body has recognized only one Accord structure in the state.
He further said that public support for Governor Adeleke remains strong and expressed belief that the governor would win the next governorship election scheduled for August 8. He credited Adeleke’s popularity to his connection with the people and said past election outcomes had shown the governor’s strength at the polls.
Raji recalled that Adeleke narrowly lost in 2018 due to issues surrounding the election process but later won in 2022. He added that despite criticism of Adeleke’s style, his leadership has brought visible gains to the people of Osun State.
