Lagos State has recorded the highest number of registered members in the All Progressives Congress digital membership drive, placing it ahead of other states and the Federal Capital Territory. The registration exercise, which started nationwide in December 2025, was designed to create a central digital record of party members.
Although Lagos joined the process on January 5, 2026, the state quickly overtook Delta State, which had led the exercise for several months. Within about two weeks, Lagos posted figures that positioned it as the top-performing state in the exercise.
The Lagos State Coordinator of the e-registration, Prince Ayodele Adewale, linked the outcome to early planning, cooperation with party structures at the grassroots, and the use of technology to monitor registrations as they occurred. He acknowledged the backing of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and party leaders for supporting the process across the state.
Adewale also credited the state APC leadership, including Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi and members of the Governance Advisory Council, for mobilising members and ensuring the exercise gained wide acceptance.
Meanwhile, concerns have been raised in Zamfara State over the conduct of the same registration exercise. A federal lawmaker representing Kaura-Namoda and Birnin Magaji, Sani Jaji, alleged that some party members were prevented from registering. He said the complaints involved individuals linked to the Jajiyya political group in the state.
Jaji explained that he raised the matter after returning from a religious trip abroad and learning that some party officials and members were reportedly left out of the process. He said his inability to register, despite holding a national office and previously serving the party, raised questions about how the exercise was being managed in the state.
The lawmaker warned that unresolved internal issues could weaken the party if not addressed early. He called on the APC leadership to ensure fairness, openness, and inclusion in the registration process to protect party unity ahead of future elections.
