Activities gradually returned at the FCTA headquarters and its related ministries, departments, and agencies following a ruling by the National Industrial Court of Nigeria delivered on Tuesday.
The court, led by Justice E. D. Subilim, ordered the Joint Union Action Committee to halt the strike immediately to allow talks between the parties to continue. The industrial action had earlier disrupted operations across several FCTA offices before the court stepped in.
After the ruling, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, called on all workers to return to their duties without delay. He noted that although workers are free to express grievances in a democratic setting, court decisions must be obeyed.
To ensure full compliance, the Acting Head of the FCT Civil Service, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti, released a circular directing all secretariats, departments, and agencies to resume operations at once. The circular, dated January 27, 2026, instructed senior officials to reopen offices and closely monitor attendance through staff registers. It also reassured workers of the administration’s ongoing concern for their welfare.
Visits to several FCTA offices and related agencies on Wednesday showed that many workers had returned to their posts. Offices were open, and staff members were seen attending to their regular duties, signaling a gradual return to normal operations across the territory.
