APGA Releases Timetable for Anambra LG Primaries

The All Progressives Grand Alliance has announced its proposed schedule for the 2026 local government primary elections in Anambra State. The plan was made public in Awka through a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara.
According to the party, the timetable followed APGA’s constitution and the programme of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission. It stated that the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will run from January 27 to February 6 at the party’s regional secretariat in Awka.
The party disclosed that screening of aspirants seeking chairmanship and councillorship positions will take place between February 7 and February 11 across the 21 local government areas and 326 wards in the state. Matters arising from the screening are expected to be reviewed on February 13.
APGA also announced that ward congresses to select councillorship candidates and ad-hoc delegates will be held on February 14. The chairmanship primaries are scheduled for February 15, while appeals linked to the primaries will be addressed on February 16, all within Awka.
The party fixed the cost of chairmanship nomination forms at six million naira, while councillorship forms will cost six hundred thousand naira. It added that women and persons living with disabilities will pay half of the stated amounts. APGA further stated that all payments made for the forms are not refundable and that changes may be made to the timetable if necessary.
The party advised all interested aspirants to comply strictly with the guidelines and electoral rules as the primary election process approaches.
