Aisha Yesufu, a well-known activist and member of the African Democratic Congress, has apologised to fellow activist Yemi Adamolekun following an error that led to Adamolekun’s name being included in an ADC policy committee without her consent.
The issue surfaced on Wednesday when Adamolekun noticed her name on a public list of members of the ADC Wise Men and Women Policy and Manifesto Committee. She expressed concern on social media, questioning how her name appeared on the list despite not being informed or formally involved with the party.
The situation drew attention online, prompting a response from the ADC spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, who explained that the committee was designed to include professionals and experts, not only party members. He stated that the party believed policy development should involve people beyond politics and added that internal steps were taken to contact those selected.
Despite this explanation, concerns remained. On Friday, Yesufu addressed the matter directly on social media, admitting that proper steps were not followed. She accepted responsibility on behalf of the party and acknowledged that Adamolekun should have been contacted and her approval obtained before her name was made public.
Yesufu also extended her apology to any other individuals who may have been listed on the committee without prior notification. She noted that feedback from the incident would help the party improve its internal processes as it works toward national reform goals.
The ADC Policy and Manifesto Committee, made up of 50 members, is chaired by former Edo State Governor John Odigie-Oyegun, with Professor Pat Utomi serving as deputy chairman. The committee is expected to develop policy ideas aimed at national development.
The formal inauguration of the committee is scheduled to take place on February 2, 2026, at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja.
