The Edo PDP faction said the court’s decision cancelling the party’s National Convention has cleared the way for internal stability and renewed cooperation among members. The group described the ruling as a turning point that restores adherence to party rules and internal processes.
The faction’s state chairman, Nosakhare Ogieva-Okunbor, urged party members across the country to support Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary. He said backing the current leadership would help the party rebuild its structures and prepare for future political contests.
According to the group, the ruling strengthens confidence among party faithful and provides direction at a time of internal disagreements. The faction also called on members and stakeholders to close ranks and work together under the existing national leadership for the progress of the party.
The Federal High Court had earlier nullified the PDP National Convention held on November 15, 2025, at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. The court also restrained Kabiru Turaki and others from presenting themselves as national officers of the party, a move that affected the faction that emerged from the convention.
The convention, tagged Ibadan 2025, had drawn party leaders and delegates from across the country despite unresolved leadership disputes. The court decision is the latest development in a series of legal battles arising from disagreements over the PDP’s national leadership and internal governance.
