A Kano State High Court has scheduled April 15 for the continuation of the trial involving former Kano State governor Abdullahi Ganduje, his wife Hafsat Umar, and several others. The case concerns allegations of bribery, conspiracy, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds totaling billions of naira.
The trial includes eight defendants in total. Besides Ganduje and his wife, the accused are Abubakar Bawuro, Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lasage General Enterprises Ltd. The court hearing will cover various pending motions and preliminary objections filed by the defendants.
During the court session, lawyers for the prosecution and defense indicated their readiness to proceed with the case. Multiple motions, including requests to submit additional evidence, stay proceedings, and extend deadlines to reply to legal points, were presented for consideration. The court adjourned the case to allow time to hear these applications.
Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu, presiding over the case, set April 15 as the new date to hear the motions and objections before continuing with the main trial. The court session ensured that all parties involved could have their requests properly reviewed before the trial resumes.
