The Anambra State Government on Tuesday in Awka announced the timetable for the second term inauguration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, with the main ceremony scheduled for March 17, 2026.
The programme was made public in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor.
According to the schedule, the swearing-in will take place at 10 a.m. at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka. Before the ceremony, an interdenominational church service will be held on March 15, 2026, at the International Convention Centre, Awka.
After the inauguration, a thanksgiving mass is planned for March 22, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka.
Invited guests are expected to be seated at the venue of the inauguration by 9 a.m., while accredited media organisations are to arrive before 8 a.m. Following the oath-taking, the governor will inspect a guard of honour and deliver his inaugural speech to residents of the state. A brief worship service will follow before he resumes official duties.
Soludo was re-elected in the November 8, 2025, governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
He defeated his closest rivals after securing the highest number of votes in the poll conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission. With his return to office, he will serve another term as the sixth democratically elected governor of Anambra State.
The state government expressed appreciation to residents and supporters within and outside Nigeria for their goodwill messages and continued backing.
The upcoming inauguration marks the beginning of a new four-year term for the governor and his deputy as they prepare to continue the administration of the state’s affairs.
