Fubara Names New SSG, Chief of Staff
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Thursday appointed Dr. Dagogo S.A. Wokoma as Secretary to the State Government and Barrister Sunny Ewule as Chief of Staff in Port Harcourt.
The announcement came after the recent intervention by President Bola Tinubu in the ongoing political crisis in the state. The appointments were made public through a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi.
The new appointments take effect immediately. Dr. Wokoma had earlier been removed from office along with other cabinet members during changes made by the governor earlier in the month.
With this latest decision, he returns to his former role as SSG. Barrister Ewule now assumes office as Chief of Staff as part of the governor’s fresh cabinet lineup.
The state government confirmed that both officials are scheduled to be sworn in later on Thursday. The ceremony is set to take place at 2:00 pm inside the Executive Council Chamber at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
These appointments mark the first changes in the cabinet since the President’s latest move aimed at resolving the political dispute in Rivers State.
The crisis has led to tension between the executive and the state assembly in recent months, drawing national attention and federal involvement.
With the new appointments, Governor Fubara appears to be restructuring his administration as efforts continue to stabilise governance in the state.
Observers say the development may shape the next phase of political activities in Rivers as discussions around the crisis continue.
