Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri on Friday announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress during a statewide broadcast.
He said he moved to the ruling party along with members of his cabinet and other PDP officials across the state. The governor explained that the decision was taken in what he described as the interest of development and progress for the people of Adamawa State.
Fintiri made the announcement in the early hours of the day, confirming that the political shift affected the structure of the PDP government in the state. According to him, his commissioners, advisers and party leaders at various levels have joined him in the move to the APC.
The governor stated that his choice followed consultations and careful thought about the future of the state. He said aligning with the ruling party at the federal level would create better opportunities for cooperation and access to support for projects and programmes meant to improve the lives of residents.
