Chief Emmanuel Eboh, a leader of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, has called on the party to allocate its next state chairmanship position to Delta North Senatorial District. He made this known in a statement issued on Sunday.
Eboh, who serves as Special Adviser on Politics to Senator Ned Nwoko, said the demand became necessary because the current state chairman of the party comes from Delta South, the same district as the state governor.
He explained that for fairness and unity, leadership positions should rotate among the three senatorial districts in the state.
According to him, Delta South had previously held the chairmanship position for about eight years and six months. He argued that giving the position again to the same district would not reflect balance in a state made up of different ethnic groups.
Eboh said there were signs that the chairmanship might remain in Delta South after the upcoming congress. He warned that such an outcome could create dissatisfaction within the party and affect internal harmony.
He urged party leaders at both the state and national levels to ensure proper rotation of leadership positions. He said a fair arrangement would strengthen unity and help the party prepare better for future elections.
Eboh also expressed confidence in Delta North’s ability to produce a capable chairman. He said the district has experienced members who can guide the party effectively ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appeal comes as the APC prepares to hold its state congress on Tuesday, where a new chairman is expected to be elected.
