On Tuesday, the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, officially swore in 17 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in the state’s Civil and Public Service at the Governor’s Office in Agodi, Ibadan.
The appointees were urged to perform their duties with honesty and dedication, prioritizing the welfare of the state over personal or political interests.
The ceremony included the administration of the Oaths of Office and Allegiance to the new secretaries, who were selected through an examination process that considered competence and experience.
The appointments were distributed across various sectors, including the mainstream civil service, education, local government, House of Assembly Service Commission, and the state Auditor-General’s office.
Governor Makinde called on the new secretaries to remain loyal to the state rather than to individuals or political figures. He reminded them that governments change and that their focus should be on serving the people and ensuring the smooth functioning of the state’s institutions.
The swearing-in was attended by key state officials, including the Deputy Governor, former deputy governor, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, the Chief Judge, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Head of Service, commissioners, and other dignitaries.
The new Permanent Secretaries are expected to manage their offices with transparency and integrity while supporting the ongoing development initiatives in Oyo State.
