The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has inaugurated temporary caretaker committees for all 21 local government areas. The committees include a chairman, a secretary, and three former officials in each council, tasked with managing party affairs ahead of upcoming elections.
The oath of office was administered by a legal practitioner, John Tunoh, while the state interim PDP chairman, Belmont Dogo, told the new leaders that the party’s strength depends on its grassroots structure. The committee members were charged with rebuilding confidence among party members and preparing the party for future contests.
The move comes after Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and several key members, including commissioners, special advisers, and lawmakers, left the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) last month. The party now seeks to reorganize its local leadership to stabilize its presence in the state and maintain grassroots engagement.
The caretaker committees are expected to oversee party activities, ensure compliance with the PDP constitution, and guide preparations for elections at both state and national levels.
The party also aims to use this structure to strengthen coordination and foster active participation among members across Adamawa State.
