On Thursday, former presidential candidate Peter Obi said he is not certain of securing the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He made this known through a video message shared with his supporters, where he spoke about the uncertainty surrounding the party’s ticket and the future of ongoing political efforts.
Obi explained that there is no guarantee that he will emerge as the party’s candidate, noting that political processes can be unpredictable. He stated that his main focus remains the cause he and his supporters are working towards, rather than personal assurance of candidacy.
He also reflected on the current political situation in the country and raised concerns about the stability of alliances, noting that it is difficult to be certain about long-term commitments among political partners. According to him, such uncertainty is part of the challenges faced in opposition politics.
The former Labour Party presidential candidate maintained that he remains committed to his goals despite reported pressures and challenges. He appreciated his supporters for staying with him through difficult times, noting that many have remained loyal even without immediate benefits.
Obi further acknowledged the struggles that come with being in the opposition in Nigeria and expressed gratitude to those who continue to support the movement.
He noted that the journey ahead remains uncertain but assured that he is still dedicated to the cause he believes in.
