Shettima to Welcome Zamfara Governor into APC

Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to visit Zamfara State next Tuesday to formally receive Governor Dauda Lawal into the All Progressives Congress (APC). The planned event was announced on Saturday during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Gusau.

The state chairman of the APC, Tukur Danfulani Maikatako, said preparations have been completed for the visit, which will also include members of the party’s national leadership. He described the governor’s move as a return to the ruling party and said it reflects growing confidence in the APC within the state.

According to party officials, Zamfara has long been seen as a strong base for the APC, and the governor’s decision is expected to strengthen the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections. Party members across all wards and local government areas have been urged to come out in large numbers to welcome the Vice President during the visit.

The party leadership also called for unity among members, urging them to put aside internal disagreements and work together for the development of the state and the country. They stressed the importance of cooperation as the party prepares for future political activities.

A former state chairman of the APC, Lawal M. Liman, also encouraged members to mobilize support at the grassroots level by spreading information across communities. He said unity within the party remains important as members work toward shared political goals.

The planned reception is seen as part of ongoing efforts by the APC to strengthen its structure in Zamfara and consolidate support ahead of upcoming elections.
