On Wednesday, the South East chapter of the All Progressives Congress will hold its zonal congress in Enugu as part of the party’s nationwide congress activities scheduled for 2026.
The event is expected to bring together party members and leaders from across the region to participate in the exercise.
The congress is being organised in line with the timetable earlier released by the national leadership of the party, which outlines activities leading up to internal restructuring across all zones. Although the initial schedule did not clearly state venues, the party later communicated specific locations for each region in a formal notice sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
For the South East, the venue has been fixed at the Multipurpose Hall of Hotel Presidential in Enugu. The party also listed other venues across the country, including Lagos for the South West, Asaba in Delta State for the South South, Kaduna for the North West, Gombe for the North East, and Lafia in Nasarawa State for the North Central zone.
The notice was jointly issued by the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Bashiru, informing the electoral body of the planned congresses in all geopolitical zones.
All zonal congresses are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. simultaneously across the designated locations. The exercise is part of preparations by the ruling party to strengthen its internal structure ahead of future political activities and elections.
