The federal government has directed workers in parts of the Federal Capital Territory to remain at home as preparations continue for the All Progressives Congress national convention.
The instruction affects civil servants working within Phases I, II, and III of the Federal Secretariat Complex, as well as those at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This decision follows the planned closure of roads around the Federal Secretariat area. Authorities said access routes in and around the complex will be shut from Friday to Saturday because Eagle Square, the venue for the convention, is located close to the area.
In a circular issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, permanent secretaries and heads of agencies were informed about the development and asked to ensure that staff comply with the directive. Workers in the affected offices are expected to carry out their duties remotely on Friday to reduce movement and ease congestion.
The government explained that the temporary arrangement is necessary to manage traffic and security concerns during the political event. It also urged officials to pass the information to all employees under their supervision to ensure smooth coordination during the period.
The directive is part of measures put in place to maintain order and allow activities related to the convention to take place without disruption.
