A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Ayodeji Da-Silva, has revealed that he is preparing to defect to the All Progressives Congress after spending over two decades in the PDP.
Da-Silva, who is from Lagos Island and has a background in healthcare and politics, said his planned move is driven by his desire to contribute more to the growth of the state. He explained that he wants to be part of efforts aimed at improving Lagos and helping it compete with major cities around the world.
He stated that his decision followed careful consideration of political platforms, adding that he believes the APC provides an environment where new ideas and policies can be implemented for national progress.
The politician, who has both academic and professional experience in healthcare management, said his journey into politics began during his student years. Over time, he has contested different political positions, including a senatorial seat in Lagos West and the presidency.
He also spoke on the state of the country, urging Nigerians to remain patient with ongoing reforms. According to him, development takes time, and progress may not always be immediate. He noted that Nigeria has recorded growth in sectors such as technology, housing, and international relations, even though challenges still exist.
Da-Silva maintained that leadership remains an important tool for improving the lives of citizens, adding that his move is aimed at supporting policies that can bring long-term development.
