The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected claims circulating online that its leadership has changed. The party clarified that the reports are false and urged Nigerians to ignore them.
The denial followed a post suggesting that Senator David Mark had stepped down as national chairman and that former chairman Ralph Nwosu would assume control of the party. The post also linked the supposed change to recent actions by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and ongoing leadership disputes within the ADC.
The INEC had previously removed the names of the ADC National Working Committee led by Mark from its official portal, citing a Court of Appeal order. The commission stated that the existing situation should remain unchanged until a final decision is made in a Federal High Court case in Abuja.
The leadership conflict in the ADC involves factions led by Nafiu Gombe and David Mark, both claiming authority over the party’s national structure. Despite the court directive, the Mark-led committee intends to continue preparing for the party’s national convention scheduled for April 14 in Abuja.
The party maintains that all reports suggesting a leadership shift are fabricated and should not be considered accurate.
