Wike, Umahi Lead Tributes to Late Senator Mpigi

In Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, alongside the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and other dignitaries paid tribute to late Senator Mpigi Barinada Barry during a Night of Tribute held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre.

The gathering brought together government officials, lawmakers, and associates to reflect on the life and contributions of the former lawmaker.


Wike described the late senator as a firm and dependable leader who remained steady in his political beliefs and actions throughout his career. He said the deceased was known for standing by his decisions and working with strong commitment toward any cause he believed in. He also noted that the senator’s focus on justice and development for his people would continue to be remembered, urging others to live lives that leave lasting value.


In his remarks, Umahi spoke about the late lawmaker’s character, describing him as a man whose words matched his actions and who remained loyal to his principles. He recalled their working relationship, especially on legislative matters and infrastructure projects, noting that the senator contributed to the progress of major road developments across the country, including coastal highway projects linking key areas.

During the event, Pastor Amos Okemuyiwa of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, FCT Province 1, delivered a message reminding attendees about the certainty of death and the importance of living a meaningful life. He encouraged reflection on personal impact, stating that what people leave behind in memory matters most.
