Moves are building for Senator Ali Ndume to seek another term in the National Assembly as supporters in Borno South push for his return in the 2027 elections.
Babandi Shehu said youths across the nine local government areas in the senatorial district are already backing efforts to secure the party ticket for Ndume ahead of the APC primaries. According to him, the campaign is being driven by those who want the lawmaker to continue representing the district in the Senate.
Ndume, a four-term senator, is being projected by supporters as a candidate they believe still has a role to play in national politics. Backers point to his record in the National Assembly and his positions on national issues as reasons for the renewed support.
The senator has remained active in political debates and has at times taken positions critical of the administration of President Bola Tinubu. He was also among lawmakers who raised concerns over aspects of planned tax reforms expected to begin in 2027.
Supporters in Southern Borno are now looking toward the party nomination process, with growing talk around another Senate bid. If he contests and wins, Ndume would be returning to the National Assembly for a fifth time, extending a long political career in federal lawmaking.
The development adds to early political movements ahead of 2027, as aspirants and supporters across parties begin positioning for what is expected to be a keenly watched election cycle.
