Kano set to swear in new deputy governor Tuesday

The Kano State Government will swear in a new deputy governor on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in Kano, as Murtala Garo is set to officially assume office during a ceremony scheduled to hold at the Government House Coronation Hall by 11:00am, following an announcement from the state government on Monday through the governor’s information adviser, while preparations have been completed and stakeholders are expected to attend the event.

The ceremony will be presided over by the state governor, Abba Yusuf, who is expected to formally administer the oath of office to Murtala Garo, marking his entry into the state’s top executive leadership.

The government has asked political leaders, party members, and residents to attend the event, which is seen as part of ongoing political changes within the state administration.

A close associate of the incoming deputy governor confirmed that the swearing-in will go ahead as planned, adding that invitations have already been extended to relevant stakeholders and supporters.

The event is expected to draw attention from across the state as the new deputy governor begins official duties immediately after taking the oath of office.
