Presidential aspirant Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has obtained the African Democratic Congress expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 presidential election, promising to tackle insecurity, unemployment and the rising cost of living in Nigeria.
Hayatu-Deen received the N100 million forms from the leadership of the ADC as preparations for the 2027 elections continue across political parties. The development was made public in a statement released by his media team on Friday.
The economist became the first aspirant to officially secure the ADC presidential nomination forms. His supporters described the move as a major step in his campaign to emerge as the party’s candidate for the next presidential election.
Speaking after collecting the forms, Hayatu-Deen said the country was facing serious economic and security problems that required urgent attention. He stated that many Nigerians were struggling daily because of rising prices, job losses and fear caused by insecurity in different parts of the country.
He said the 2027 election should focus on fixing the economy, improving security and restoring confidence among citizens and investors. According to him, businesses cannot grow in an environment where people feel unsafe and uncertain about the future.
The presidential hopeful also said he plans to introduce policies that would support businesses, reduce operating costs and create more job opportunities for young Nigerians if elected president. He added that small businesses would receive support to grow and contribute more to the economy.
Hayatu-Deen explained that his years of experience in business and economic management had prepared him to handle the country’s economic challenges. He said Nigeria has the human and natural resources needed for growth but requires leadership that can properly manage those opportunities.
The ADC recently opened the sale of its presidential nomination and expression of interest forms, with the process scheduled to run from May 6 to May 13.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission has already released the timetable for the 2027 general elections. According to the commission, the presidential and National Assembly elections will take place on January 16, 2027, while governorship and state assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027.
INEC also announced that political parties are expected to conduct their primaries and settle disputes arising from the process between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
The commission further stated that campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August 19, 2026, while governorship and state assembly campaigns will start on September 9, 2026.
