The African Democratic Congress on Tuesday dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that its National Chairman, David Mark, approved the sale of nomination forms through a stakeholder linked to the party.
The party, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the video making the rounds online as false and unauthorised.
The ADC stated that only official information released through the office of the National Publicity Secretary should be accepted as genuine by members of the public and party supporters.
According to the party, any message claiming to represent the views or directives of the National Chairman or the National Working Committee outside approved communication channels should be ignored. The ADC maintained that such claims were misleading and not connected to the leadership of the party.
The party explained that the responsibility for the sale of nomination forms for major elective positions such as president, governor, Senate and House of Representatives belongs strictly to the Office of the National Organising Secretary.
It also stated that nomination forms for State House of Assembly elections are handled only at recognised state party headquarters.
ADC warned that any individual or group carrying out sales or issuing directives outside these approved offices was acting against the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act process.
The party also stated that all official activities in different states must pass through recognised party structures and offices. It advised members and the public to avoid dealing with unauthorised persons claiming to act on behalf of the party.
ADC further warned that individuals spreading false information or impersonating party officials could face disciplinary measures and legal action.
The party called on members to remain calm and continue supporting efforts aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the timetable earlier released by the party, the sale of nomination forms began on May 5 and ended on May 10, while the submission of completed forms is expected to continue until May 13, 2026.
The party also listed the costs of the forms for various positions. The presidential form was fixed at ₦100 million, governorship at ₦50 million, Senate at ₦20 million, House of Representatives at ₦10 million and State House of Assembly at ₦3 million.
