The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, released the names of House of Representatives aspirants who were not cleared to participate in the party’s National Assembly primaries across different states in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The list was made public through a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, after the completion of the screening process conducted for aspirants seeking to contest under the APC platform. According to the party, the exercise was carried out by screening committees following internal guidelines and procedures used to determine eligibility for the primaries.
Several aspirants from Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi and Rivers states were listed among those marked “not cleared.” In Ondo State, the affected aspirants included Adefisoye Tajudeen from Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Olusegun Victor Ategbole and Seun Oluwashina Ajongbolo from Akoko South-East/South-West Federal Constituency, Arowole Ayodeji Samuel from Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, as well as Morufu Tosin Ibrahim, Oseni Oyeniyi and Olaleye John Adedipe from Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency.
In Bauchi State, Bashir Ibrahim Bello from Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency was also listed among those not cleared for the primaries. Ebonyi State had Idu Igariwe from Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency on the list, while Kogi State recorded the name of Sanni Salau Ogembe from Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency.
In Rivers State, the affected aspirants included retired Air Commodore John Azubuike Opara from Port Harcourt Federal Constituency, Anderson Allison Igbiki from Okrika/Ogu-Bolo Federal Constituency, Awaji Imombek Abirite from Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro Federal Constituency and Boma Goodhead from Asari-Toru/Akuku-Toru Federal Constituency.
The APC did not state the reasons why the affected aspirants failed to secure clearance from the screening committees.
Meanwhile, in Katsina State, Jamila Mani, who serves as Special Assistant on Girl Child Education and Development to Governor Dikko Radda, emerged as winner of the APC primary election for Mani/Bindawa Federal Constituency.
The party also experienced challenges in Adamawa State during its direct primaries for House of Representatives seats. Reports from some wards in Girei, Yola North and Yola South showed that party members waited for long hours after officials expected to conduct the exercise failed to arrive or communicate with participants.
The APC primaries are part of preparations by the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections across the country.
